Experience with judges
I would like to start new topic - talk about judges!
That could be interesting to change with experience about judges who has judge our schnauzers! That could help breed clubs to find interesting judges for speciality shows and for everyone - to know what one or another judge like or dislike
I'm now interesting about Jeannette Seltz Halter from France, doe's anyone have any coments? Only thing that I know - she is head of France schnauzer and picher club.
Thanks.

Yes she is the head of the schnauzer and pinsher club and I don't like how she judges

Re: Experience with judges
Sandrine, what kind of schnauzers doe's she likes? Doe's she looks very clear to anatomy, to coat condition? Prefers croped or uncroped dogs?

Re: Experience with judges
I've never been judged by her because I know she won't like my dog (because she look only how the tail is !!)
I will ask to my friend who is on this forum "matin de cristal" what type of dog Mme Seltz like to judge and I will say to you

Re: Experience with judges
I don't like judge Elena Borisova, Aleksandr Soroko...
I like Irina Azen, Jelena Kruus, Zhana Bondar (it is Schnauzers judges).
But of all judges (and other breeds), most I like Svetlana Radiuk (BL) and Tatjana Urek (SLO).

Re: Experience with judges
For me very special judges are Bo Skalin, Boriss Chapiro. If someone need more info about them - welcome
Here we can put links from places where we can find good information about judges

Re: Experience with judges
Bo Skalin can absolutely be considered a schnauzer specialist. He lives nowadays in Finland, but he is actually Swedish. You might know the affix Hassanhill's which belongs to Skalin's ex-wife Corinne Kullberg. He looks for a proper type, well-conditioned coat and balanced movement so bring the best to the table when showing under him

i have had Mr Chapiro this year for the first time ... he is special
i think he has saw my dogs one time and will never see them a second time ...for exemple : bad pillow for my young at 9 monthes .... her pillow is not as an adult but not so bad .... and he is not sympathical, when i arrived i say "hello" and no answer ... he refused to gave confirmation exam to a dog because ears not good ?????????? on the FCI standard, how ears are on dog isn't write for "no conformation dog " !!! so well .....

RaggaGisla wrote:Do you know Christine Rossier-Feuz from Switzerland?
I can be mistaken in some points, but this is what I know:
Christine Rossier and Elisabeth Feuz are sisters.
Frau Ch. Rossier is continuing working with pepper&salt Minies under kennel name *Tombola's*, which was started by her father.
Frau E. Feuz is breeding miniature bullterrier.
Both are often judging schnauzers in ring and they know what they do
Frau Rossier knows many breeders and sometimes it can affect her prefercences/dislikes.

Thanks! I was thinking it was a thickness of hair somewhere! So you are meaning the dog didn't have a harsh enough coat texture for the judge.
I have only had that judge go over my old giants Schnauzer, as she is the grand-daughter of Xyla V Buck who they owned, and she loos very similar to Xyla, it was no surprise that he quickly picked up on all her strengths and weaknesses (I can admit she might have some of those, now she's retired! )

Re: Experience with judges
My young had excellent texture on her back but not on the legs and so a little of baby hair !
for me a young couldn't have the texture as an adult ... for me the hair need working but now she has an excellent texture ... but Mr Chapiro wouldn't know that !!!

Re: Experience with judges
Does anyone know Herr J Fertig from Germany? He is judging Miniatures at one of our club shows this year
Jo
Re: Experience with judges
J. Fertig & I -we live in same town
I was only once under his judgement and he is very correct & gentleman judge in ring.
My other impression: he is somehow out of subject last years. He is rarely judging and doesnt know tendencies.
He is looking for old german type of dogs and pays attention to correct ears and tail.
He doesnt see correct angulations infront and is not movement specialist.
He likes good handling and hears ring steward too much.
He has no idea about grooming/feeding subject. Dog with yellowish legs (black&silver) got Good.
One day he could be a very nice judge, if he would have more interest on Minies and would pay more attention on learning whats going on.

only problem is mainly that french breeders are not used to be judged by a international judge... so many surprises arrived when international judges are judging...
Mr Chapiro is an excellent judge, as Mrs Feuz or Mrs Rossier.
About mrs Seltz, she only judges persons.... not dogs....
In France she tell that gently born kennel hasn't the right type, without substance, bad coat... and when she is judging in Russia , Mrs Vlasova win....
So be carefull with her...
A excellent judge that we don't see a lot is Mr Lauber from Switzerland.
In France good judges are Mr Lemagnan, Mr Medard Ringuet, Mr Kerihuel, Mr and Mrs Hallier, Mrs Veyrier, Mrs Meyer, Mrs Lafay, these judges are not political, they are not only judges for schnauzers, but they know very well our breeds...

Pray
Sometimes dogs have impression of smaller size, so I think you have a hope...
Frau Feuz is not so bad with measurement.
