Which clipper do you use ?
All is in the title !
I would like to spend my money in a very good clipper.. and I don't know which clipper is the best ?
I would like a silencious clipper..
and which head clipper do you use ?
PS : I'll use the clipper just for a part of the head, chest, and under the tail..

Re: Which clipper do you use ?
I've always used the Oster A5, though it isn't the quiestest on the market, it is a good, reliable clipper that gets used in my grooming shop daily. It is also very easy to care for and doesn't need to have parts replaced very often.
clipper blades I use depend on the coat colour and thickness, 7f used on chest (clipped against the grain) + cheeks, 10 for bottom and maybe the ears or I might go as short as a 30 on the ears (though with a b/s a 10 would be about right)

Hi
I totally agree with Jo. I have been grooming and clipping my own dogs and others for over 30 years and I am now on my second A5. They are so reliable and almost imposible to wear out. I mostly use blade 10.
Good luck with your clipper!

Hi
That does not look like a Golden A5. Do you know what modell it is? It might be one with a smaller engine and I have not tried that.
I use one with only one speed as I found I no use for two. Perhaps if you do a lot of whole body clipping or clipping of other breeds it might be good with two speed.

Hi
I found this web site

Read the replies too, it seems Powermax does not deliver.
The power of the engine is as good as A5 and it is 20% lighter. Tough to choose...
Good luck /M

Re: Which clipper do you use ?
I prefer the single speed clipper. I have a 2 speed one but never use it, it gets to hot on the fast speed and the slower speed is a bit to slow!!
The best thing to do is buy them at a dog show, then you can feel what they are like in your hand, some can be a bit heavy or wide to hold on comfortably. I have another clipper I rarely use as the body is to light and narrow!

ANDIS POWER GROOMER
I swear by this clipper. I have had now for 4 years and love it. YOu can combine OSTER A5 blades and use on this clipper. Also it converts in to a cordless although sold seperately. Very light and quiet. Stays cool over hour useage. I have really enjoyed it. It is also not a heavy clipper so does not get arms tired if you are doing a pet groom on a dog etc.
