blindness black miniature schnauzer

I have a dog is going blind retinal atrophy,someone has the same problem?European dogs that are carriers of this disease?

I am sorry to hear that your dog is going blind....
I have never had or breed dogs that has this diseasis,but I know some dogs they had give this diseasis.
But you never can say never....I hope the DNA test is ready soon....

please read through that thread and see if you can donate a sample of your dogs DNA to help us develop a test for this problem.

In germany( the PSK) they are also trying to find the dna of the PRA and the cataract.
They ask for blood....maybe you can send them blood of your blind schnauzer???

they aren't asking for samples from dogs with PRA, they are asking for samples from dogs with PRAA (Constriction of the esophagus caused by a persistent right aortic arch (PRAA) )

Shame to also have donations of DNA split between 2 lots of reserch groups. In the UK we have the funds waiting for enough DNA samples to get working on this!
